We would like to say a huge congratulations to Steve Kirby who won the English Open High Gun at the English Open Handicap by Distance held at Nottingham & District on 5th April 2015. What a fantastic achievement, well done Steve!

Steve is one of our loyal clients and a regular competitor in clay pigeon shooting competitions throughout the year and is fast becoming one of England’s champion shooters.

Unfortunately, his choice of sport exposes him to a greater risk of long-term and potentially irreversible damage to his hearing health, such as noise-induced hearing loss.

What is noise-induced hearing loss?

Sounds can be harmful when they are too loud, even for a brief time like a gun shot, or when they are both loud and long-lasting. These sounds can damage sensitive structures in the inner ear and cause noise-induced hearing loss.

Nosie-induced hearing loss can be immediate or it can take a long time to be noticeable. It can be temporary or permanent, and it can affect one ear or both ears. Luckily noise-induced hearing loss is something you can prevent, if you take the correct precautions.

CENS ProFlex - Orange + Blue-M

Steve uses CENS® ProFlex digital 2 ear protectors which are purposefully designed to provide excellent ear protection for rifle and shotgun shooters. Steve’s CENS® ProFlex digital 2 are custom made to provide him with obstruction free, comfortable custom noise suppression every time he shoots.

Speaking about his ear protection, Steve comments, ‘I would definitely recommend CENS® ear protection to anyone exposed to loud sounds and harmful noises. I use my ear protectors every time I shoot, and find they not only protect my ears but block out noise from the other contestants and spectators increasing my concentration and improving my performance’.

‘They are comfortable, easy to wear and good value for money. I also use them in my construction job for operating heavy machinery’.

Steve continues. ‘The team at Hearing Healthcare Centre are excellent and very helpful, and I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone concerned about their hearing’.
