In modern motor racing cars, the ambient noise level is similar to that of a jet engine, making it essential to have highly effective ear protection to minimise potential hearing problems. I’ve been riding a Yamaha YZF-R125 to and from work daily, and I never realised just how loud my motorbike is, especially with wind noise as well! I attended a hearing test at Hearing Healthcare Centre in Cambridge, and was politely informed that I had a ‘moderate’ hearing loss- similar to an average 50 year old! As a 19 year old, I was shocked and rather concerned by the results.
